Oel ngati kameie!

Which means “I see you” in the Na’vi language.

I can’t believe how I just wasted my first post of the year commenting on a worthless piece of blog post from some paranoid mother who thinks that Isaac Newton would play a DS.

My first post should totally be on the most awesome movie right now – James Cameron’s AVATAR!!!

Yea I know it’s a topic beaten to death but I WANT TO DO SOME BEATING TOO DAMMIT!

2009

Written and Directed by James Cameron

Starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Zaldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Michelle Rodrigeuz

That’s a terribly misleading picture I ninja’d btw. It’s still pretty, though.

In fact, everything about this movie is pretty. I don’t care if it has the most cliched, boring and overrated story, it’s just sooo pretty, and we all know that’s all that matters, right? Don’t lie.

Well I’m not gonna really summarize this movie, cuz c’mon, which tax paying citizen of the world hasn’t watched it? Or at least heard of the story?

You haven’t? Well you suck. And start paying your taxes.

Anyways, in simple terms, the story of Avatar is thus:

Get it get it??

Yes.

Well, there has been many criticism of the lack of originality in this movie, and I really dislike how people keep dissing this movie solely base on that fact. We had been given enough unoriginal Hollywood junk and you gotta at least give the film some credit for being such an amazing unoriginal movie! Besides, all movies share similar themes and plots to another movie at least! Every content, although itself might be an original, is built upon the same themes that occur in our lives so that the audience will be able to relate to it.

The amount of details and creativity that goes into the movie is astounding. The creatures, the colors, the atmosphere…almost every scene is breathtaking. The soundtrack helped a lot too. It creates this atmosphere that is so epic that it’s no surprise people suffered from post-avatar depression…

I love the emotional expressions of Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) the most. In certain parts, her acting just makes me tear up. The motion capture was done so well that I could really believe that they are real beings.

So amazing…

Well anyways, it’s one of the most amazing movies I’ve watched, AND I’VE WATCHED QUITE A FEW MOVIES. I went in the cinema expected to be entertained and boy, was I entertained. In terms of “it blew me away”, my brains were blew so far away I couldn’t talk straight for a few days after. Don’t know if I’d got it back yet.

My Verdict: 9/10 ★★★★★★★★★☆

(That said though, I’m rooting for Hurt Locker for the Oscars.)

And here I shall end with my avatarification:

I’m ready for Pandora babeh~!

Video Games Were Invented by Satan?

Since God invented all the other good stuff.

Was reading through my google feeds when I saw this post by Sarcastic Gamer about how this mom was raving about the evilness of video games on her blog. Hey who knew, a parent on the internetz! With a blog nevertheless!

So, because I have nothing else better to do, I went and took a look at the woman’s blog and actually read the whole thing. It started off with:

We have the only house in our neighborhood with no video games.

Well that ought to tell you something.

My son has explained to me many times how this makes us freakish aliens from space.

No shit. Although Aliens from space are much cooler.

I truly believe that video games were created by Satan to turn otherwise normal children into his drooling, glassy-eyed stooges.

MySpace

After my son plays them at his friends’ houses, he comes home irritable and testy for the rest of the day.

MySpacehmm…that sounds familiar..

Then the rest of the post, she talks about how she wants to be the “fun mom” who makes Popsicles and is liked by every kid etc. But apparently no one wants to go to their house because it’s boring. Well I wonder why…

Then she started to talk about how she read an article about a mom who called the cops on her kid cuz he’s been playing too much GTA. The rest of the blog is basically her attacking GTA and video games, after which she went on and talked about how she was an odd and geeky kid when she was in school but learnt a lot from her reading excessively (well ma’am, you make us geeks look bad) and that

If Sir Isaac Newton had been playing a DS, I’m sure he never would have noticed the apple falling from the tree, so he never would have formulated the theory of gravity.

First of all, being the smart guy that Isaac Newton is, he would probably be a PC gamer, and wouldn’t spend much time with a DS. Second of all, if the DS had been already invented back then, then we’ll be having hover cars right now and so screw gravity.

Since I’m probably being a biased ass, here’s the article so you can judge for yourself.

But honestly, people should stop blaming everything on video games. OHHH This guy killed someone! It’s cuz he’d been playing COD! OHHHH this other guy shot a cop!! It’s cuz he’s been playing GTA!! OHHH this kid shot himself cuz he’s being playing too much WoW!!

Dammit people, how about you guys start taking responsibility in the society instead of blaming everything on a bunch of codes and machines?

Oh a guy killed someone? Well I’m we all want to do what the video game characters do. I’ve always wanted to jump and knock my head into a brick so that maybe coins will come out of it.

A guy shot a cop? Maybe he just wants to loot his guns and stuff.

A kid shot himself? How about bad parenting as a cause? Did that idea ever come across you parents? HMM? Probably not, because you guys are probably too busy to even take a look at your kid and ask him how’s school and such every once in a while. You know, care a little, like how parents are supposed to? Maybe then he won’t let WoW fill up his empty life, and maybe then he won’t shoot himself because he has an awesome family?

Ok, I’m done. It’s just that video games are a big part of my life and my family. We would play the multiplayer games together, and we would watch each other play the single player games etc. It’s not a solitary activity, seriously. Especially now with online play and such.

Although maybe being a gamer makes me a “drooling, glassy-eyed stooge” so I’m oblivious to its evilness.
