Oel ngati kameie!

Which means “I see you” in the Na’vi language.

I can’t believe how I just wasted my first post of the year commenting on a worthless piece of blog post from some paranoid mother who thinks that Isaac Newton would play a DS.

My first post should totally be on the most awesome movie right now – James Cameron’s AVATAR!!!

Yea I know it’s a topic beaten to death but I WANT TO DO SOME BEATING TOO DAMMIT!

2009

Written and Directed by James Cameron

Starring Sam Worthington, Zoe Zaldana, Sigourney Weaver, Stephen Lang and Michelle Rodrigeuz

That’s a terribly misleading picture I ninja’d btw. It’s still pretty, though.

In fact, everything about this movie is pretty. I don’t care if it has the most cliched, boring and overrated story, it’s just sooo pretty, and we all know that’s all that matters, right? Don’t lie.

Well I’m not gonna really summarize this movie, cuz c’mon, which tax paying citizen of the world hasn’t watched it? Or at least heard of the story?

You haven’t? Well you suck. And start paying your taxes.

Anyways, in simple terms, the story of Avatar is thus:

Get it get it??

Yes.

Well, there has been many criticism of the lack of originality in this movie, and I really dislike how people keep dissing this movie solely base on that fact. We had been given enough unoriginal Hollywood junk and you gotta at least give the film some credit for being such an amazing unoriginal movie! Besides, all movies share similar themes and plots to another movie at least! Every content, although itself might be an original, is built upon the same themes that occur in our lives so that the audience will be able to relate to it.

The amount of details and creativity that goes into the movie is astounding. The creatures, the colors, the atmosphere…almost every scene is breathtaking. The soundtrack helped a lot too. It creates this atmosphere that is so epic that it’s no surprise people suffered from post-avatar depression…

I love the emotional expressions of Neytiri (Zoe Saldana) the most. In certain parts, her acting just makes me tear up. The motion capture was done so well that I could really believe that they are real beings.

So amazing…

Well anyways, it’s one of the most amazing movies I’ve watched, AND I’VE WATCHED QUITE A FEW MOVIES. I went in the cinema expected to be entertained and boy, was I entertained. In terms of “it blew me away”, my brains were blew so far away I couldn’t talk straight for a few days after. Don’t know if I’d got it back yet.

My Verdict: 9/10 ★★★★★★★★★☆

(That said though, I’m rooting for Hurt Locker for the Oscars.)

And here I shall end with my avatarification:

I’m ready for Pandora babeh~!

Vantage Point: Oh, There It Goes Again!

Yea, rewind, just go rewind for the 5249013th time.

Caught this movie on HBO.

The first 10 minutes or so were pretty cool. Sigourney Weaver is incredibly awesome and the whole I-have-it-under-my-control attitude fits her perfectly. She’s a goddess I tell ya. Anyhoo, that 10 minutes is probably the only time I actually enjoyed the movie. Then that annoying white flash came on and there was a rewind sequence and then we were brought back to the beginning of the movie, but from a different point of view. I was like, aw man, ok fine, this might be interesti…oh wait, oh, OH IT’S REWINDING AGAIN! Oh dang we’re at the beginning again. Ok fine, the guy with the camcorder might be interes….oh there it goes again, it’s rewinding! DAMMIT we’re at the begining again!! C’mon! Whoever wants to know about the point of view of the preside…DAMMIT STOP REWINDING!!

Yea and that’s the whole movie. In real time, the whole movie probably only lasted 20 minutes, tops, but got freakin stretched out to fill 90 minutes strapped with a dozen replays of the same event. Ugh. This movie has style, I give you that. But Sigourney Weaver only appeared for what, 12 minutes? 15 max? That’s horrible!

BUT, it’s a good movie for an afternoon to kill time.

DIE TIME, DIE!!

My Verdict: 5.5/10 ★★★★★½☆☆☆☆
