Sexually Transmitted…Infections?

(or affections PUN! hahahah..ok, that wasn’t very funny. BUT YOU LAUGHED DIDN’T YOU!)

So I was looking at the RSS feeds I subscribed to on my iGoogle page, and I saw the Straits Times Interaction section with the headlines: STI

The first thing that I thought of was: wth is STI? Then I tried to form acronyms with STI and realized that it can be Straits Time Interative. Then I read the headline again and decided that “teens” and “the name of a newspaper” cannot possibly be in the same sentence. So I clicked on the article to find out that STI is actually Sexually Transmitted Infections.Oh the joy of new discoveries!

Just kidding.

Anything that starts with an ST immediately makes me thing of aids. (Even STP, which means boring standard temperature and pressure. Maybe that’s why I failed Chemistry. Or was it Physics?) Anyhoo, the article says something about a heck load more of teenagers are getting herpes, warts and other sexual stuff that kill you. And this girl had 54 sexual partners. And the article assumed that she’s getting money for sex. WHAT MAKES YOU THINK THAT SIR? Money is not the most important thing in the world you know. Love is. And we all Love Money.

But I digress. Since I don’t know what’s so new about this news, I decided to find out — why use STI? And not the much more commonly know STD? STD even sounds better. See, Estee Dee pwns Estee Eye. And they both pwn Estee Pee. But just to have some concrete support, I went to “The Keeper of All Knowledge” — Wikipedia. Funny how people are so smart to create Wikipedia and still can’t differentiate a butterfly from a horse.

Anyhoo, this is what it says:

Infection simply means that a germvirus, bacteria, or parasite — that can cause disease or sickness is present inside a person’s body. An infected person does not necessarily have any symptoms or signs that the virus or bacteria is actually hurting his or her body; they do not necessarily feel sick. A disease means that the infection is actually causing the infected person to feel sick, or to notice something is wrong. For this reason, the term STI — which refers to infection with any germ that can cause an STD, even if the infected person has no symptoms — is a much broader term than STD.

So basically, if you have no symptoms — you have an STI! If you do show symptoms — you have an STD! Either ways you’re screwed. So don’t have sex, kids. Stay childish and pure. Like snow. Or snow flakes if you’re pretty. Icicles if you’re Chucky. Because icicles kill and so does Chucky.

Lanning? Nah, I’m Just Gonna Go To The Library..

…And read some Manga.

Manga Library

A Manga Library, how cool is that?!?!

Meiji University has officially announced on Thursday that it aims to establish the tentatively titled Tokyo International Manga Library in 2014. The university plans to house two million items of manga, anime, games, and other media in the proposed archive at its Surugadai campus in the central Tokyo ward of Chiyoda. The collection will include tie-in books, magazines, dojinshi, manga and anime artwork, cels, game software, game consoles, character goods, figures, and more…..In addition to an archive for preserving and researching items, the planners are exploring the prospects of including a museum and a theater.

From Anime News Network

2014 you say? Well if there’s one motivation to live past 2012, it’s this!

2,000,000 items of a geek’s fantasy housed in a five storey, 2.1 acres of awesomeness = more reason to move to Japan. I wonder when something like this will ever happen to Singapore. If the government can spend all that money on a pro-debt-suicide-inducing casino, why can’t we have a Manga Library? Heck, they’d even closed down the only library branch I know that holds a decent collection of Manga! Then again, the collection were rather obsolete. And the series they had were never complete anyways. Now that I think of it, the librarians weren’t very nice there either. Screw that, glad it’s closed.
